Villánykövesd

Villánykövesd is a settlement at the eastern foot of the Black Mountain. Villánykövesd is a tourist favourite, and the three-storey cellar village is an often picture theme of painters and photographers. The listed cellar is one of the most spectacular monumental ensembles in the country. It shows how important viticulture and winemaking were in the past. The colourful doors of the cellars are open to visitors all year round, where they can see the current stages of wine-making, the tools and tools of the trade, and taste the wine that is a tribute to the work of farmers and nature.

Looking down from the basement terrace, you can see a 2-hectare park with a playground for children. Created in 1754 by Italian master church builders, the Batthyány Cellar is the venue for the opening of the European Bordeaux Festival in the second half of September each year. The spectacle and acoustics of the vast underground wine cathedral are awe-inspiring. The brickworks on the outskirts of Villánykövesd is an industrial landmark.
